Guest Article – Making Time for Mom

Written by Cathy Bates

Our busy schedules don’t leave much time for mom! No matter what stage of motherhood you are in or whether you are working outside of the home or at home, moms are extremely busy and are not naturally going to find time to relax and rejuvenate. They must work hard to make time for themselves, so they are able to give their best to their family. But how?

Less is more! The less “stuff” you have to manage, the less time it will take to manage that “stuff,” leaving more time for mom.

Husbands and kids may not do the task as well as you do or the same way you would Mom, but it is done and you didn’t have to do it. You are also encouraging responsibility among others!

When asked to take on something new, do not answer immediately. Take time to think about whether it is something you have time for, will enjoy doing, and/or are qualified to do.

Set up a routine so that things flow a little easier. Schedule in time for yourself and protect that time. Take at least 30 minutes a day to do something you enjoy.
• Read a book
• Take a bubble bath
• Spend time with your husband
• Exercise
• Have a little girl time with a friend
• Enjoy a hobby
• Have adult conversation – UNINTERRUPTED!
