Tips From the Almost Always Organized Mom

If your child’s school doesn’t provide student agendas. It is time to attend a Parent Advisory meeting and advocate to get them. — The Almost Always Organized Mom

The electronic organizer of choice for this busy mom has always been a Palm. I have never been able to let go of my “paper” mom planner but my palm has always complimented my paper based family Organization systems.

Last fall I signed up for a new cell phone and went with a Palm Treo Smart phone. Which leads me to my morning discovery ….  Splash ID. I have encountered some technical difficulties with Vista on my work computer and one of the problems is that I have to reload all my email accounts for work which in turn pointed out a glaring concern in my organization system. I have NO one place to store passwords. OK, so I do, a little page in the back of my dayplanner that I attempt to encrypt with my own secret code. OK, I am not five anymore and unlike my son who loves breaking codes, I can’t remember what codes I used when I created some of these passwords!

Of course I have also learned that we need STRONG passwords and really shouldn’t be using the same password for all of our accounts (which i have remedied) but now I really can’t recall half my passwords.

So this morning I downloaded the 30 day trial of Splash ID and will be upgrading to a paid version if this works.

If you aren’t a palm user this program also works with your blackberry and a variety of other hand helds as well.

Click here to download your 30 day trial and see if it works for you.

It’s a great goal for next week to all you busy moms …  create a system for storing all your memberships and passwords in one place.

I really enjoy cooking. Honest. I love going to the market and selecting fresh vegetables and coming home to my peaceful kitchen to cook a nice meal. Setting the table with fresh flowers and matching cutlery.

menu.jpgOf course I am referring to my life before three children not my life as a busy mom trying to stay organized :-) One of the biggest obstacles I face is trying to cook meals that are affordable and healthy. My grocery budget is stretched each month beyond my budget with last minute runs to the store for meals. Its the constant finding time delima. I know other moms who buy family size meats for example and cook up three lasagnas and freeze them for future use.

I would enjoy an evening of cooking, I just have a hard time finding the time. I have a freezer, I just don’t have the time. My goal this month is to locate different menu planning options with shopping lists, and putting a shopping system in place. I currently have a monthly shopping list that covers all my basics however with out a menu plan this busy mom spends too much on her grocery bill.

I love being able to share free resources that can help you manage your time.

Pocket Mod is great for mom, dad, the nanny, even your teenagers.

One sheet of paper, six pages of planning. Small enough to fit in your pocket. A pocket size calendar, to do list, and more. Simply select from their options (daily page, this week, next week, monthly, yearly, and tools like a food diary, check book …)

I am sharing this from my kitchen table and lack a printer port to actually print the page to see how it looks I will be sure to update you when I print it tomorrow.

What a great and simple concept. Check it out. Let us know what you think.
